Cleveland Indians first baseman Nick Swisher welcomed a daughter to the world earlier this week and he was placed on the MLB’s paternity list following the birth of his child. Now that Swisher has had the opportunity to spend time with his family and their newest member, he is prepared to return to the team on Friday night.
Per Jordan Bastian of MLB.com:
Francona: Swisher (on MLB’s paternity list) is scheduled to rejoin the Indians in time for Friday’s game in Boston.

This season, Swisher is hitting 274/.382/.493 with six home runs and 16 RBI. This comes after signing a four-year, $56 million free agent contract over the winter.
Cleveland was on a five-game win-streak until their recent two-game skid against the Detroit Tigers, which began as soon as Swisher was placed on the paternity list. The Indians begin a four-game road series against the Boston Red Sox, so Swisher’s return will be very welcomed for the Tribe.
