Denver Nuggets general manager Masai Ujiri was named the NBA Executive of the Year for his success with the team this past season, however, he is close to having a new job for next season. After the Nuggets granted the Toronto Raptors an opportunity to interview Ujiri, the two sides have worked at a very quick pace and the Nuggets appear ready to accept the fact that Ujiri will be heading to Toronto.
Ujiri will take the next couple days to fully consider the move, but significant momentum has gathered that likely will lead to Ujiri’s departure from the franchise that he completely remade into a Western Conference contender, sources told Y! Sports.
Denver ownership “seems to be moving on,” one league source familiar with the talks told Y! Sports.
Ujiri would be an excellent hire for the Raptors and it would finally give them a bright basketball mind in the front office.
What Ujiri did in Denver was admirable and it looks like he could be getting another opportunity to show he knows what it takes to get a team on the right path.
