Everett Golson Left Notre Dame For Academic Issues; Door Open For Return

Jan 4, 2013; Fort Lauderdale FL, USA; Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Everett Golson (5) during a press conference for the 2013 BCS National Championship game at Harbor Beach Marriott Resort

When news initially broke that Everett Golson, the quarterback that led the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to the BCS National Championship Game, was no longer enrolled at the university, there was no real reason given for his departure. The first rumors that circulated were that Golson left because of a resident life violation at the school, but now it seems that it was more of an academic issue.

From Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune:

While it is purely speculation, there was a rumor being passed along last night and early this morning that plagiarism could have been a factor.

There was also a belief that Golson would never return to Notre Dame, but Hamilton left a little hope for Fighting Irish fans that Golson could later return:

This certainly isn’t the last we will hear of the Golson situation, so be sure to stay tuned to FanSided.com as we keep you updated with the latest news and rumors.
