Forrest Griffin Retires From MMA

UFC light-heavyweight Forrest Griffin is a true fan favorite and one of the pioneers of mixed martial arts. If it was not for Griffin’s fight on The Ultimate Fighter season 1 finale when he battled for three rounds with Stephan Bonnar, the sport probably wouldn’t be where it is today. Griffin brought a lot to the sport, but tonight he announced that he has given it all he’s got. During the UFC 160 post-fight press conference, Griffin announced his retirement from the sport.

While Griffin will no longer be a UFC fighter, president Dana White announced that Griffin would be staying with the organization in some way, shape and form and eventually receive a title for his position.

Griffin said at the press conference that he plans to be involved with the UFC’s local charities.

After a career that included of the best fights in UFC history, becoming the original Ultimate Fighter champion and a UFC light-heavyweight championsip, Griffin has nothing to be ashamed of. He always put on a show and the fans loved watching him go to war in the cage. It will be hard to ever find a fighter with that amount of heart.

We wish Forrest the best of luck moving forward and would like to thank him for going out and entertaining all of us for the past number of years.
