Facing a three run deficit in the bottom of the ninth inning this afternoon, the Toronto Blue Jays rallied back against the Baltimore Orioles.
Catcher J.P. Arencibia started the comeback with an RBI single, putting runners on the corners. A fly out from Brett Lawrie put a mild damper on the comeback, though a walk from Anthony Gose continued the momentum moments later. A Mark DeRosa RBI fielder’s choice plated another run, but the Jays were still in need of another run just to tie things up. Enter infielder Munenori Kawasaki, with the game on the line.
Kawasaki, a two year veteran who spent last season in Seattle, stepped to the plate and clubbed a game winning, walk-off two-run double to center field, but somehow that wasn’t even the highlight of his day.
Talk about living in the moment. What a feel good story for Kawasaki, who has struggled with the stick this year but came through at the right time today. You could almost feel his energy through the video.
