Boxing fans are actually getting the fight they want for a change. Undefeated welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26 KOs) announced on Wednesday that his next fight will be against undefeated Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KOs). The two men are the top fighters under Golden Boy Promotions, so it is going to be a highly anticipated fight. The bout will be at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Mayweather announced the news on Twitter:
I chose my opponent for September 14th and it’s Canelo Alvarez. I’m giving the fans what they want. It will be at the MGM Grand.

The fans have been asking for this fight since Alvarez solidified his standing as one of the best in the world, and at 22 years old he could very well be the future of boxing.
Mayweather stormed through Robert Guerrero in his last bout earlier this month, while Alvarez unified the 154-pound titles in his last outing on April 20 against Austin Trout.
