It appears that Jurickson Profar‘s stay in the Show will be short lived.

Many speculated that when the Texas Rangers called up baseball’s top prospect, it would be for good, despite Profar only being 20 years old (and just 20, mind you). Sure, there were problems finding him a place on the diamond so he could see the field every day, but, that’s a good problem to have, right?

Apparently not for the Rangers, who plan to send Profar back to the minors once Ian Kinsler returns from his stint on the disabled list due to a rib cage injury.

Per Richard Durrett:

#Rangers skipper Ron Washington told us on @FitzandDurrett that plan is for Jurickson Profar to go to AAA when Kinsler returns.

I’m not sure who’s more irritated at the news. Ranger fans or people (LIKE MYSELF11!!1!) who picked up Profar for their fantasy team and wasted a #1 waiver spot on him…*kicks desk*

In fairness, despite holding his own, Profar like any young player can still use a bit of seasoning on the farm, despite his overwhelming abilities.

He’s sure to be back up later in the year when rosters expand, if not sooner.

Profar is currently hitting .304 with a home run and 5 RBI in 6 games.
