Atlanta Braves pitcher Brandon Beachy underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery last June and it looks like he is very close to making a return. After three more rehab starts with with Low-A Rome, Beachy is expected to make his 2013 debut. If all goes according to plan for the Braves, you can expect the right-handed pitcher to make his season debut in just a few weeks.
It looks like June 18 will be the date they target to get Beachy back on the mound.
“If there are no setbacks or anything, it would be a perfect fit,” Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said, via Carroll Rogers of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “But we know about perfect fits, and that’s why I do all my stuff in pencil.”
In his most recent outing, Beachy threw for five scoreless innings.
Before the surgery last season, Beachy had a 2.00 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 68/29 K/BB ratio in his 81 innings.
Also worth noting: June 18 is my birthday. There are no potential setbacks that can change that date.
