While the Los Angeles Clippers are scheduled to meet with Mike Malone for their head coaching job, it appears he’s not the only target for their vacancy.
According to a report in the Orange County Register, both Brian Shaw and Jeff (not Stan) Van Gundy are being “strongly considered” for the opening.
Per the OC Register:
Brian Shaw and Jeff Van Gundy are being “strongly considered” for the Clippers head coaching job, according to sources close to the Orange County Register.
Both Shaw and Van Gundy are one of many rumored names to be considered by the Clippers, who have had no shortage of potential suitors lining up for the opportunity. Considered one of the premier (if not the premier) opening in the annual NBA coaching carrousel, the Clippers shouldn’t find it to difficult to bring in a guy they’re comfortable with, whomever that might be.
Shaw was an assistant with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2004 to 2011, prior to becoming a Pacers assistant coach two seasons ago. Van Gundy, who currently is an NBA broadcaster for ABC/ESPN has been void of the sidelines since 2007, where he last coached the Houston Rockets.
