New York Yankees first baseman Lyle Overbay is pretty comfortable in the infield. After all, the powerful left hander has played 1,272 games at first base. He’s played zero in the outfield. That will change tonight when Overbay takes the field in right as the Yankees currently deal with a roster crunch.

Per Jack Curry of the YES Network:

"Lyle Overbay will start in RF for Yankees tonight. In his 1,376th career game, he’ll make 1st appearance in OF. Yanks looking for offense."

Overbay has never played any other position on the diamond other than first, outside of being a designated hitter, so the adjustment should be relatively fun for those who enjoy outfield follies.

With Kevin Youkilis and Mark Teixeira both being activated from the disabled list, there wasn’t much room for Overbay, thus the move to the outfield.

Then again – after expiring Raul Ibanez in the outfield for 93 games last year, Overbay may look like a Gold Glove winner.
