FC Barcelona made one of the biggest signings in this offseason, by securing the Brazilian wonderkid Neymar’s signature. The expectations are naturally going to be very high for Neymar to perform, and his national team and now club teammate Dani Alves believes that the 21-year-old has what it takes to rival Barcelona’s superstar Lionel Messi.

A lot of people are excited to see what Neymar can accomplish outside of Brazil, but according to Sports Mole Alves believes that his teammate’s future is bright:

“I’m sure in the future it will be very difficult to choose between Neymar and Messi for the Ballon d’Or,”

“To be the best, first one must have humility, and I know that Neymar does have that. He knows how much work needs to be done before he can win as many awards as Leo has done.”

It’s a bit too early to judge whether Neymar has the ability to get to Messi’s level, but the expectations and the excitement are already there. During the 2012/13 season, Neymar scored 41 goals in 48 appearances across both club and international competitions with Santos and Brazil.
