Chelsea is one club that continues to pop up in transfer rumors and one of the latest names to be linked to the team is Netherlands international star Wesley Sneijder. Sneijder is a familiar face to manager Jose Mourinho after their time together Inter Milan, and the reports indicate that Sneijder and Mourinho have kept a close relationship and that the new Chelsea manager will consider a reunion at Stamford Bridge.
Sneijder currently plays for Turkish Süper Lig club Galatasaray, who he says that he is happy playing for, but you never know what can happen — especially when the two sides have such a great relationship.
“I have a great relationship with Jose Mourinho,” Sneijder told SporX, via Sky Sports. “We have kept in contact since our days at Inter. Does Chelsea need a playmaker? I’m not sure. In soccer you can never be certain of what will happen next but I’m very happy in Turkey.”
The big issue with Sneijder will come down to cost.
If The Blues can find a way to get the Dutchman at a cheaper price than the market may suggest, Mourinho would likely jump on the opportunity to snag his former player. However, Sneijder seems to be in no rush to leave Turkey, so it looks like this transfer rumor will likely never come to fruition.
