Miami Heat star LeBron James finished Game 1 with an impressive triple-double that included 18 points, 10 assists and 18 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to lift the Heat past the San Antonio Spurs in the first game of the NBA Finals. Unfortunately for LeBron, his critics want him to do even more and criticized him for passing off the ball in key situations — even if his teammates were wide open — instead of taking the ball himself.

For LeBron, the criticism doesn’t seem to phase him. He responded to those who say he needs to do more following Saturday’s practice and he didn’t seem to buy that train of thought.

“No, I can’t get involved in that honestly, because I’ve done more and lost before,” LeBron said. “I mean we played Orlando, when I was in Cleveland we played Orlando in the Eastern Conference Finals and I think I averaged 38, 36, or whatever I averaged (38.5 in the 2009 series). I guess I should have done more in that series as well. But I can’t.”

It’s true.

You can’t ask LeBron to do much more when all he has been doing is playing at a top level. If you need to point fingers at anyone, look at his teammates that have let him down on numerous occasions — especially those that missed the open shots LeBron fed them in Game 1.

If he is able to come out in Game 2 and improve on his triple-double performance, you would have to believe the Heat would win, but that would likely be because of more help on the court.
