Miami Marlins Will Not Activate Giancarlo Stanton On Monday

Miami Marlins slugger Mike Giancarlo Stanton had intentions of being activated from the disabled list on Monday, prior to the Marlins game against the Milwaukee Brewers but that apparently wont be the case, this according to Joe Capozzi.

Per Capozzi:

Logan Morrison expected to be activated Monday but Giancarlo Stanton may be day or 2 later because of rained -out rehab games #Marlins

An MRI taken on Stanton’s leg in late April revealed an injured right hamstring, something the Miami doctors later upgraded to a Grade 2 strain.

The Fish called up highly touted prospect Marcell Ozuna to replace Stanton, but Ozuna has raked Major League pitching to a tune of a .326 average and it’s unlikely Ozuna will be sent back down to make room for Stanton when he does come off of the disabled list.

The Marlins will most certainly need to do a bit of house cleaning for their crowded outfield once Stanton returns later this week, but the extra few days should give them a bit more time to get crafty with their roster.
