If you believe the rumor mill, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Orlando Magic, who own the top two selections in next month’s 2013 NBA Draft aren’t exactly thrilled with their draft positions as both teams are apparently willing to move their respective picks.
We’ve known about the Cleveland rumors for a few weeks now but according to insider Brian K. Schmitz, the Magic are not only willing to move the pick but have fielded quite a few phone calls about it.
Source tells me Magic considering moving down in draft and have “quite a few” suitors interested in trading for No. 2 pick.
The Magic have been rumored to be interested in University of Kansas guard Ben McLemore but in a draft that is somewhat considered “weak” by pundits and some scouts, the Magic may try to squeeze every ounce of value from the pick in a trade.
If they do opt to trade the pick, they could also use it as leverage to move one of their high priced contracts like Jameer Nelson or Arron Afflalo, creating more cap space which will be needed to re-build their roster.
