The loveable Panda, better known as Pablo Sandoval, has hit a rough patch lately, not so much on the field but in the trainers room.
Dealing with a foot injury for the past few weeks, Sandoval missed today’s game after coming up lame during last nights tilt in Arizona and now apparently could be hitting the disabled list with a foot strain.
Per Andrew Baggarly:
Bochy said new MRI on Sandoval showed foot strain wasn’t more severe, but manager sounded as if going day-to-day wouldn’t be a good idea.
Sandoval started the season extremely hot, though has slowed recently as the lingering foot injury has hampered his game both, both on defense and offense.
In the past two weeks, Sandoval has hit a woeful .212 with just three RBI and no home runs, continually leaving games early to rest his foot, or as Giants skipper Bruce Bochy likes to call it “defensive help”.
The Venezuelan native has struggled to stay healthy for the Giants, missing parts of the previous two seasons with hamate bone operations.
Sandoval is currently hitting .289 with 8 home runs and 37 RBI.
The Giants will explore alternative footwear for Sandoval whenever he returns from the disabled list, assuming he is placed on it.
