When the Miami Heat took on the Indiana Pacers back in the Eastern Conference Finals, we were treated to a bitter back-and-forth between two teams evenly matched. Things were close and games were tight to the end until the seventh game of the series. But so far in the NBA Finals we’ve had a series of polar opposites and blowouts, which isn’t really what we expected or wanted to see.

The Spurs and Heat stayed close in Game 1 but Miami ran away with Game 2 and San Antonio promptly returned the favor in Game 3 as they just obliterated the Heat in front of a San Antonio friendly crowd.

Gary Neal stepped up big for the Spurs in Game 3 with 24 points off the bench and the San Antonio starters followed suit with Tim Duncan and Kawhi Leonard posting double-doubles and Danny Green coming out of nowhere to lead the team in scoring on the night with 27 points and seven buckets from three point land.

The question we all have now is does Game 3 set the tone for the rest of the series or will be in store for a continuation of this aggressive back and forth where Miami and San Antonio trade blows flexing their muscles at each other with blowout wins. It’s not very entertaining to watch, and the trade offs are showing there still isn’t a clear cut favorite in the series.

If the Spurs can pull off another convincing win in the series and put the Heat on the brink before heading back to South Beach, we may finally have a team emerging as a leader. But so far nothing in this series, even blowout wins, have helped point to a favorite and San Antonio is hoping that they can convince the world in Game 4.

Still, the loss was utterly embarrassing for the Heat who looked shell shocked very quickly and just never showed any heart. They’re such a bi-polar team of late that this will either cripple them or motivate them to answer San Antonio with a blowout of their own. Only time will tell but Game 4 could end up deciding this series.
