Los Angeles Clippers to Decide Between Byron Scott and Brian Shaw for Head Coach

Although Byron Scott was spotted in Los Angeles wearing Clipper shorts during a workout a few weeks back, it appears he still has competition for the head coaching job, this according to Peter Vecsey.

Vecsey tweeted out this morning that the Clippers have narrowed down their coaching candidates to just two and will now decide between either Byron Scott or Brian Shaw.

Per Vecsey:

Hollins better pray he can find empty coaching chair when music stops. Nuggets may b last spot.I’m told Clips will decide tween Scott & Shaw

Of course, Vecsey has been known to whiff a time or seven, but the guy is plugged in to the activity around the league, so it’s difficult to not take this report with some heavy merit.

Shaw has spent the last nine seasons as an assistant coach with both the Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers, though has never held a head coaching job at the NBA level.

Scott on the other hand was the 2008 NBA Head Coach of the Year and has spent the last three seasons as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
