Updating an earlier story from this morning, it appears the Brooklyn Nets have fallen in love with former point guard Jason Kidd.

What was almost a semi-laughable thought as recently as a few days ago has turned into much more and according to a report from Yahoo Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski, Jason Kidd could be named head coach of the Brooklyn Nets as early as the end of this week.

Per Wojo:

Jason Kidd has emerged as the strong frontrunner to become the Brooklyn Nets head coach and could be hired before the end of the week, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Nets ownership has told league associates that it wants a “fresh face,” as coach, and the hiring of Kidd would give them a star quality that comes with significant risk for a franchise with a mandate to complete for championships in the short term.

Talks on a possible contract for Kidd are under way, sources said.

Earlier today, Fred Kerber of the New York Post hinted that the Nets were seriously considering hiring Kidd, something that Wojnarowski obviously confirms.
