Absolutely crushing news.
Just days after returning from the disabled list with a right wrist impingement, San Diego Padres outfielder Cameron Maybin will be sidelined for at least six weeks after he suffered damage to his posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.
The speedy outfielder had recently made the most of his playing time during his first few days back, picking up a handful of stolen bases as well as a home run, but was oddly absent from the lineup the last two nights with little explanation as to why. Some reports suggested he came up slightly lame during the Padres’ last series in Colorado, but there wasn’t much cause for concern – until now.
A one time highly touted prospect, Maybin experienced the breakout so many expected from him during the second half of last year but struggled out of the gate this season thanks to the wrist injury. Now, with another six weeks on the shelf, it appears Maybin’s season is in jeopardy.
