San Francisco Giants To Place Pablo Sandoval On DL

While the San Francisco Giants have yet to officially announce placing Pablo Sandoval on the disabled list, beat writer Andrew Baggarly is reporting reinforcements are already on their way for the move.

Per Baggs:

Nick Noonan traveling to PIT, will be added to roster if he arrives in time, Giants say. Sandoval expected to go on DL but nothing official yet.

While the move could just be a safety net, bringing Noonan up just to have an extra body who could immediately be added to the active roster, the more likely scenario is Sandoval will be placed on the 15 day disabled list, retroactive to June 9th.

Sandoval has been struggling the past few weeks with a foot injury and recently underwent an MRI on Sunday that showed a left foot strain.

Noonan was recently sent down by the Giants to receive more active playing time as the 24-year-old infielder was struggling on the Giants’ bench. However, with Sandoval out for at least fifteen days, Noonan should see a solid amount of playing time during the next two weeks.
