Lionel Hollins’ Interview With Los Angeles Clippers Canceled

May 21, 2013; San Antonio, TX, USA; Memphis Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins reacts against the San Antonio Spurs in game two of the Western Conference finals of the 2013 NBA Playoffs at AT&T Center

Although the Los Angeles Clippers are reportedly torn between Byron Scott and Brian Shaw, they were still planning to interview former Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins for their head coaching today. However that apparently has changed, at least for the time being.

Ramona Shelburne is reporting that Hollins’ interview with the Clippers today has been canceled:

Schedule change: Clippers are not interviewing anyone today

The reasoning behind the cancellation is unknown. Was it a scheduling conflict and either the Clippers or Hollins needed to re-schedule? Have the Clippers come to terms with either Scott or Shaw? Has Hollins found another job?

There has been no date released of a potential rescheduling so currently there are a lot of questions and few answers as to why the scheduled meeting between the two sides was canceled today.

Another reason, though completely baseless, could be potential interest in Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers. Rivers, who has been extremely non-committal about his job in Boston announced earlier today said that he felt a change may be needed and he could be on the way out.

UPDATE:

Hollins will now interview tomorrow with the Clippers.
