Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has made no secret about the fact that he wants to get away from his current club, Liverpool, because he has grown tired of the way he has been treated by the fans. Suarez recently said that he would like to play with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid, and today he reiterated that he wants out of Liverpool.
“When I was a kid I dreamed of playing for Liverpool” Suarez said, via ESPN UK. “I have been able to play with great players who know me well and I would love to spend many more years at Liverpool.
“After the suspension the fans all supported me. That’s something I remember and it has made me think, ‘Luis, forget it all and stay’. But I cannot forget it, because I have suffered, my family have suffered, and away from football I have a family that supports me, and these things hurt them.”
To show what he is dealing with, Suarez shared an incident that took place at a mall in Manchester when he was out and about.
“I was walking in a shopping centre near Manchester with my wife and daughter and three or four guys asked me for a photo” Suarez noted. “While we were posing for it my wife said to me, ‘Luis, get out of the photo’. She noticed they were making biting gestures. Things like that get on your nerves. My wife was on the brink of tears and the blokes ran off laughing. You get tired of stuff like that.”
Well, as a professional athlete, you need to have some thick skin and learn to deal with stuff like this.
It is unfortunate, but it comes with the territory.
Suarez remains suspended for the first six games of the next premier league season for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. Whether he will be playing with Liverpool or a team like Real Madrid remains to be seen.
