Stanley Cup Finals, Bruins vs. Blackhawks Preview: Video Simulation

For the first time since 1979 (New York vs. Montreal) the Stanley Cup Finals will feature a matchup of two Original Six franchises.

The Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks meet for the biggest prize in hockey beginning tonight for their best of seven series. It’s a classic matchup between two classic franchises. And with us here at Fansided in love with both the sports world and the world of gaming, we figure why not combine the two into one epic sports gaming adventure by simulating the entire final series virtually.

I know what you’re thinking: “So you’re simming the series using NHL 13?” Well, stop right there.  For this simulation we’re going old school. And speaking of old school and classic, what better way to properly simulate a Stanley Cup Finals series between two historic teams with a historic NHL game.

That’s right, I’m talking about NHL 94.

Because I’m a member of a super secret amazing club I’ve managed to acquire a copy of the game that turned 20 years old this year — that’s right, now you feel old — updated with the current rosters of Chicago and Boston. That means what you will see is NHL 13 in NHL 94 form.

Below are full highlights of the NHL 94 battle between the Bruins and the Blackhawks. Who came out on top with Lord Stanley’s Cup? Watch the highlights and be amazed!
