With just a few weeks until the 2013 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings are doing their homework on potential general managers and have apparently weeded out the competition to a final few.

According to USA Today’s Sam Amick, Scott Layden along with David Morway and Chris Wallace appear to be the front runners for the gig.

Per Amick:

Hearing that Memphis GM Chris Wallace, former Pacers GM David Morway & Layden are atop Ranadive’s list. And the draft nears…

While Wallace and Morway have generally been accepted as fine candidates, Layden, who’s currently a member of the San Antonio Spurs front office has been met with skepticism by the fan base.

Layden is most famous for his (awful) tenure with the New York Knicks in the early 2000′s, a tenure so bad that ESPN claimed his Knicks as the “worst franchise in pro sports” (at the time), something the fans let him know nightly with the “Layden sucks” chants echoing through the halls of Madison Square.

The Kings’ front office is currently being watched by outgoing GM Geoff Petrie.
