Metta World Peace is one of the most interesting human beings on the planet, but when he speaks it is captivating and you never know what kind of genius will spill from his mouth. While you may get some wild quotes, when Metta is talking about basketball he definitely knows what he is talking about. Recently, he spoke with ESPN Los Angeles to discuss why the San Antonio Spurs have been able to take it to the Miami Heat, and his response was very insightful.
“Mentally, the Spurs are strongest right now,” Los Angeles Lakers forward Metta World Peace told ESPNLosAngeles.com prior to the Heat’s 113-77 loss to the Spurs on Tuesday. “I think LeBron and (Chris) Bosh, they want it to be given to them. I don’t think they’re taking it upon themselves like a (Michael) Jordan would have done.”
“Chalmers, he wants it,” World Peace said. “He gets it. He’s not as talented as LeBron, but he has more heart. That’s those Derek Fisher type of players. Players that have more heart that are not as talented and play hard.”
The Heat are going to erase any of the doubt they have in themselves moving forward and they will certainly need to toughen up mentally if they want to rebound from the embarrassing Game 3 loss and avoid falling in to a 3-1 hole.
To do that, Miami may need some of those spirited performances that Metta World Peace was talking about. It’s time to step up.
