Utah Jazz forward Marvin Williams will return to the Utah Jazz for this coming season, this according to a report from CSN Northwest.
Per Chris Haynes:
Utah Jazz forward Marvin Williams has elected not to exercise his early termination option for the 2013-14 season, giving him one more year under contract before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2014, a source informed CSNNW.com.
As Haynes mentions, Williams decided to not exercise his contract clause which would have made him an unrestricted free agent. The decision, which according to Haynes has already been formally completed, will pay Williams $7.5 million dollars for the coming year, the final season of a 5 year, $38 million dollar deal.
Williams, the former number two overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft (yes, he was selected before Deron Williams and Chris Paul) averaged 7.2 points per game off the bench this season, his first in Utah.
The former Tar Heel is expected to be out until at least December as he recovers from an operation to repair a tear in his Achilles’ tendon.
