The Boston Celtics either value Kevin Garnett and head coach Doc Rivers at an astronomical rate or they apparently had little desire to make a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers, given the reported trade demands.
Earlier today, the internet was set abuzz as the Boston Celtics were reportedly in “deep” talks to trade Kevin Garnett to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for some type of packing involving Eric Bledsoe and/or DeAndre Jordan. The only problem was, nobody knew what the package actually was – until now.
Los Angeles Clippers beat writer Dan Woike is reporting the elevated price:
Boston asked for DJ, Bled and 2 No. 1 picks. LAC countered with DJ and one No. 1 pick. Neither side satisfied.
While there’s nothing wrong with starting high in a negotiation setting, the Clippers were netting a 39 year old Kevin Garnett and Doc Rivers as their head coach. Now, not to discredit either of them, but to ask for not only DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe, but two first round picks as well? Expensive much?
The trade, while not “dead”, is on some form of life support according to Wojo of Yahoo Sports:
Source involved in Celtics-Clippers discussions tells Yahoo! Sports: “Not looking good, but I wouldn’t say (it’s over) for sure.”
