On March, Jerry Rice Jr. announced that he would be giving up his final year of eligibility with the UCLA Bruins. While it looked like the son of the former San Francisco 49ers legend could be ready to give up his career, Rice is set to join the UNLV Rebels.
Rice made the announcement on his Twitter account Friday night by thanking the university for their time and expressing his excitement in joining UNLV.
“Well it’s been real Ucla… Ended a little sooner than I thought but will always be a bruin..That said I’m bout to be a rebel bruin at #UNLV,” Rice said in his tweet.
Since he has already graduated from UCLA, Rice will be eligible to play immediately this season for the Rebels if he is able to crack the starting line-up.
During his time in Los Angeles, Rice had just 9 catches for 69 yards.
Whether or not Rice is able to crack the starting line up and contribute to the Rebels during his final season is yet to be seen, but he certainly has a big name to live up to.
