Rays Pitcher Alex Cobb Has Not Lost Consciousness

The scary scene that took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on Saturday afternoon has some good news. There was plenty of concern for Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Alex Cobb after he was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer.

We’ve seen these situations in the past where potentially life-threatening and/or very serious injuries have taken place, but this case with Cobb is a bit more promising than the others.

According to reports, Cobb never lost consciousness on his way to the hospital, which is a great sign.

He was hit by the line drive directly in the ear and immediately dropped to the ground. He was taken off of the field in a stretcher with his head immobilized as a precautionary measure.

If you care to see the incident, here is video.

We continue to wish Cobb the best.
