Tonight’s UFC 161 event live in Winnipeg kicked off with a heavyweight slugfest between fan-favorite Pat Barry and former LSU Tigers football player Shawn Jordan. Heading in to the bout, many people believed that fireworks were in store and that this could be one of the most exciting fights on the card, so all eyes were on the pay-per view’s opening fight to set the tone.

Barry opened up with a head kick before the two men began to feel each other out and look for the opening. After a few strikes from Barry, Jordan countered with two quick uppercuts that stunned Barry before Jordan just jumped on top of the fan favorite to land a flurry of punches that ended the fight.

It was a quick finish to start the night and it certainly looked to be the beginning of a fun card for all fight fans. To cap it all off, Jordan finished his celebration with a back flip. Pretty impressive for a heavyweight. Jordan’s win came at 59 seconds of Round 1.
