At one point in his career, former UFC welterweight contender Jon Fitch was considered to be one of the toughest men in the sport to submit. Now, after a 41 second thrashing from Josh Burkman in a rematch from their fight seven years ago, Fitch looks like just another fighter.
Fitch came out with a crooked mohawk that screamed trouble, and his aggressive approach to the action got him caught early.
Burkman set his feet against the cage and unloaded a beautiful left-right combination that stunned Fitch, before he jumped on the opening and sunk in a deep guillotine choke. Burkman tried to fall back in to guard, but he was only able to get half-guard, which was enough to complete the choke and put Fitch to sleep. Before referee Steve Mazzagatti could step in to stop the action, Burkman realized that Fitch had gone unconscious and stood up with his hand raised. It was the best that we have ever seen Burkman look.
UFC president Dana White applauded Burkman for stopping the choke and once attacked his least favorite referee:
Glad Burkman stopped. Mazzagatti is a clueless idiot who will hurt someone and continue to ruin guys legacies. Much respect Josh

Official time of the stoppage was 41 seconds of round one.
