Most observers feel the Pistons will select a player to bolster their backcourt. However, don’t be shocked if they take Indiana forward/center Cody Zeller. They are supposedly very high on the former Hoosiers standout.
There is growing desire in Detroit to draft the “hometown” Trey Burke, a University of Michigan product, given their need for backcourt help but the Pistons may feel Zeller is a better help despite their already solid young core of big men.
Zeller’s availability when the Pistons, who select eighth in the upcoming 2013 NBA Draft is unknown. Some reports have linked Zeller to the Sacramento Kings who select seventh, though they too appear to have a youthful frontcourt with DeMarcus Cousins, Jason Thompson and Patrick Patterson.
Currently, NBADraft.net has Zeller going to the aforementioned Kings with the seventh selection while DraftExpress.com has Zeller falling past both the Kings and Pistons to the Philadelphia 76ers who own the 11th selection.
