2013 Stanley Cup Finals: Blackhawks’ Marian Hossa Scratched for Game 3

The Chicago Blackhawks won’t have one of their team leaders in points on the ice for Game 3 of the 2013 Stanley Cup Finals.

Marian Hossa was scratched from the lineup after an apparent injury during pre-game warmups. Not much information was known other than that. From the Sporting News:

“Something happened” to Hossa in warmups, according to Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago. That could mean he decided not to play through a pre-existing injury, we suppose, but Elliotte Friedman of the CBC said he appeared to hurt himself taking a shot in warmups.

The Sporting News later updated that he “was injured by a shot puck during during warmups, according to NBC.”

The right wingman is currently tied with Patrick Kane and center Patrick Sharp with 15 points in the postseason. He finished the regular season with 31 points, 3rd-best on the Blackhawks.

Another injury happened during the pregame warmups. Boston Bruins’ Zdeno Chara and Milan Lucic had a pretty hard crash but were still able to start in Game 3. Chara later left the game.

After the first period of Game 3, the game is scoreless but the Bruins have a heavy 17-6 advantage in faceoff victories. There’s been a nearly equal amount of shots by both teams.
