College football recruiting can get out of hand sometimes, but recent Alabama Crimson Tide recruit Derek Kief breathed a breath of fresh air in to the process. Instead of the typical press conference from his high school that included the ridiculous hat selection, Kief gathered his family together and showed his exceptional taste in music while announcing his decision in a YouTube video.
Now that is some great branding.
Kief is listed at 6-foot-5, 197-pound. He also has 4.47 speed, according to his high school head coach. He chose Alabama over the likes of Ohio State and Kentucky, despite being a Cincinnati native. As a junior at LaSalle High School, Kief hauled in 65 receptions for 907 yards and 9 touchdowns.
It is the second major commitment of the weekend for Alabama, after landing five-star quarterback David Cornwell, who is considered the top pro-style quarterback recruit in the nation.
WIth the commitment from Kief, Alabama currently has the No. 5 recruiting class according to Rivals.com.

Best of luck to the kid in the future.
