Chris Paul Will Re-Sign With LA Clippers If They Trade For Doc, Garnett

While Kevin Garnett and Doc Rivers are certainly nice pieces to add for any franchise, it was a bit odd that the Los Angeles Clippers were pushing so hard for the trade.

Now we might have a better idea as to why.

According to Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Chris Paul will re-sign with the Clippers assuming the trade to bring Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles is completed:

The Clippers are prepared to give Rivers a five-year deal to coach and believe acquiring Rivers and Garnett – who will waive his no-trade clause – will lock up the re-signing of free-agent superstar Chris Paul, sources said.

The Clippers have been hesitant to make the deal as the price tag (DeAndre Jordan, Eric Bledsoe, two first round draft picks) has been extremely high but now with essentially an assurance from Paul that he’ll re-sign if the deal is made, it might push the Clippers over the edge.
