Yesterday, reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers and ace Clayton Kershaw were working on a seven year, $180 million dollar contract extension leaked.

Today, Kershaw is not happy about it and is blaming his Dodgers for the spilled beans.

Per Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times:

“I think the reason we’ve been able to continue discussions for this long is that it’s not been talked about,” Kershaw said. “And now that I’m having to talk about it, it’s a distraction because people are talking about it. I guess you’ll have to talk to the Dodgers as to why it came out now. I don’t love the fact that I have to talk about it.”

Kershaw blamed the leak on the Dodgers.

“We kind of had an agreement that we weren’t going to talk about it,” Kershaw said. “It didn’t come from our side.”

Nothing like pissing off your star player, eh?

That said, the irritation is unlikely to cause any issues outside of maybe a small increase in salary though Kershaw himself sounded a bit more unsure when asked if the blunder would cause an issue in the talks, replying “I don’t know”.
