For a new slant on FanSided, Motown Fisher and Mike Dyce will bring you some the days marquee matchups from a statistics and wagering perspective which we have asked  to help provide. “The Computer” has been providing raw statistics, and forecast modelling along with situational trends for the past 3 years in nearly every North American sport with a combined record of 2926-2584-130 since April 2010 for a net return of a whopping +501 units. ($5010 based on a $10 per game bet). This year in MLB the computer is showing a profit of +41 Units over a 121-113-11 record.

Today’s Game is a 7:05 PM CST Local Start

Oakland A’s 42-29 (W1) +110 @ Texas Rangers 38-31 (L6) –119 – Over/Under 9.5 Runs

Oak P Dan Straily (4-2, 4.45 ERA) has given up just 8 runs in his past 5 starts and just 1 home run in his last 8 starts.  He’s 1-1 lifetime vs the Rangers with a 2.50 ERA and the way Texas is playing right now, do NOT want to face a pitcher that has turned it around after giving up 19 runs in an ugly 4 stretch at the end of April and Early May.

Tex P Nick Tepesch (3-6, 4.30 ERA) comes into this game the polar opposite of Straily.  After a 4 game stretch where he gave up just 5 runs in 4 starts, he’s givin up 11 in his last 2 and the Rangers offense have seen little signs of helping him out losing his last 7 of 8 starts.

On top of the clear momentum swing the Rangers have taken this month, the Computer says the A’s have a significant edge tonight and should continue to make life difficult for the Rangers to get their first win in almost a week.

The Play

1 Units Oak +110 ($10 to return $21)

Mike Dyce’s take:

The Rangers have been on a horrible losing streak and you can’t count on them to lose this one. The Rangers haven’t lost 7 games in a row since April of 2008. Their bats have been cold and they face a pitcher who is on a hot streak. Making matters worse is that they’re putting Tepesch on the mound, and he is has been on his own streak of bad luck. He has given up 11 runs over 12 innings in his last two starts.

Brace yourselves Rangers fans, Oakland should win this won. I’d take Oakland straight up.
