San Francisco Giants: Pablo Sandoval Begins Rehab Assignment Friday

The San Francisco Giants team that’s faced a surge of injuries in the past month will have one of their star hitters back on track this Friday.

Pablo Sandoval will begin his rehab assignment this Friday with the San Jose Giants, SF’s single-A affiliate, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The third baseman has a .289 batting average and is currently tied for second on the team with eight home runs. Buster Posey has the same amount while Hunter Pence leads the team with 11. Overall, the team has been struggling with the long ball. They’ve hit 49 as a team which is third-worst in the MLB; only the Kansas City Royals and Miami Marlins are worse with 37 and 34, respectively.

San Francisco has been dealing with injuries that’s kept Marco Scutaro, Angel Pagan, and Ryan Vogelsong off the field and struggles continue with the majority of their starting rotation.

In better news for the Giants, Scutaro could be back soon after getting hit by a pitch on the finger and Vogelsong will get his injured hand re-examined in hopes to get a more exact timetable on his return.
