While the Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly torn on who to select with the first overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, they have eliminated a few names from consideration – this according to Sam Amico of Fox Sports Ohio,
According to sources, Bennett and Indiana guard Victor Oladipo are out of the equation for the No. 1 pick, and the Cavs would only have an interest in either in a “trade-down” scenario.
While Oladipo has been shooting up mock draft boards and Bennett is thought to be one of the more highly ranked prospects in the draft, neither was really ever much of a candidate for the first overall selection. Then again, some of the rumored names who the Cavs have been linked to, say like an Alex Len, really aren’t either.
Bennett, a UNLV product, was recently in Cleveland along with suggested top overall pick Nerlens Noel, but the workout apparently wasn’t impressive enough to shoot him up their board.
It’s been rumored that the Cavs are open to trading some of their lower level picks to move up in the first round as well, so could they swing a deal where they’d be able to grab another top ten talent? A bit unlikely, but the Cavs have been as active as any team on the phones and seemed destined to make an attempt.
