Los Angeles Clippers Will Try to Sign Paul Pierce if Boston Celtics Buy Him Out

This has been pretty obvious for some time now, but according to the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Clippers have their eyes set on potential free agent to be Paul Pierce.

The long time small forward has a contract option that would let the Boston Celtics buy out the vast majority of Pierce’s $15 million dollar contract, making him a free agent.

Per the LA Times:

The Clippers still want to see what the Celtics will do with forward Paul Pierce, executives said. Boston has until June 30 to decide whether to buy out Pierce’s $15.3-million contract next season for $5 million. If Pierce is bought out, the Clippers probably will try to sign him as a free agent.

The Celtics haven’t been in a rush to decide on Paul’s future and they may wait until the 30th before they make any decision official, though we may get a clearer picture as to what their intentions are once we know what the future of head coach Doc Rivers holds.

A Los Angeles native, Pierce would most likely be a relatively easy sign for the Clippers if he was bought out by the Celtics.
