Just a few days off of the disabled list after missing over a month of action, Texas Rangers infielder Ian Kinsler luckily avoided having to be placed on the DL again after a rough crash during a home plate collision with Oakland Athletics catcher John Jaso.

After walking and eventually making his way to second, Kinsler hustled home on an RBI single from Rangers catcher A.J. Pierzynski, but a throw up the line from Athletics outfielder Coco Crisp brought Jaso right into the path of the oncoming Kinsler.

The result? Kinsler’s face meeting the metal catching mask of Jaso.

The crash forced Ranger doctors to stitch up Kinsler between innings and judging by the reaction from rookie Jurickson Profar, the gash was pretty gnarly (H/T Josh Gold-Smith):

Kinsler probably wasn’t too worried about the cut as he was just happy he still had a set of teeth and a properly aligned jaw.
