Trade Between Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers Could Be Done Tonight

From dead to alive to dead to extremely alive, the trade that would be centered around DeAndre Jordan and Kevin Garnett is back on and according to a report from ESPN’s Marc Stein, may get completed tonight.

Per Stein:

Latest w/@ramonashelburne: One source close to Clips/Celts talks expressing optimism parties could agree to trade terms as soon as tonight

The latest push to get a deal done comes on the heels of a request from point guard Chris Paul who urged his franchise to make the move.

In the latest scenario, the Los Angeles Clippers would be trading Jordan to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Garnett and the Clippers would also send two future first round picks to Boston in exchange for Doc Rivers – two separate transactions.

Assuming the trade does go through, the Clippers are expected to offer Rivers a five year contract worth around $35 million dollars.

A deal would also presumably be the beginning of the end for point guard Eric Bledsoe in Los Angeles as the Clippers have been offering the former Kentucky Wildcat to a handful of teams (including Boston) in recent days. A free agent to be next season, Bledsoe would be obvious trade bait with a re-signed Chris Paul.
