According to a report from Ohio.com, Nerlens Noel, the potential number one overall selection in next week’s NBA Draft hasn’t impressed the brass of the Cleveland Cavaliers who are reportedly ‘cool’ on the former Kentucky Wildcat.
Most mock drafts around the country project the Cavs to select Noel, but sources within the organization seem cool on him. Noel played in just 24 games because of a left knee injury his freshman year and his offensive skills are limited. He has spent time during his rehab working on his shooting.
The Cavaliers have been more than open to trading their top pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, engaging in a handful of different trade scenarios and suggesting they may pass on Noel multiple times but it’s hard to envision that being anything other than smoke screens.
Other reports have suggested that Noel’s entourage has become a concern for some NBA teams, but the Cavaliers (who bent over backwards for LeBron James’ entourage) don’t sound as if they’re one of the said teams.
The 2013 NBA Draft takes place one week from tonight.
