Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban today told ESPN Dallas that his Mavs have not held a single conversation with any other team regarding a trade that would involve small forward, Shawn Marion.
Cuban is adamant, however, that the rumors about the Mavs being willing to part with the pick for minimal return if a team takes Shawn Marion’s $9.32 million salary off their hands are inaccurate. Cuban insists that the Mavs have not had any talks with teams about trading Marion.
“Not a single discussion,” Cuban said via email to ESPNDallas.com.
Of course, just about everybody with any inside knowledge into the inner workings of NBA front offices has suggested that the Mavericks will and have attempted to trade Marion, the most concrete of those rumors suggesting the Cleveland Cavaliers rejected an offer for Marion and the #13 pick earlier this month.
Without moving Marion, the Mavericks will struggle to bring in more than one name player this offseason, but Cuban may want to make sure he can sign the said player(s) before selling Marion for pennies on the dollar, just to clear cap space.
