UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is in the final stages of heavy training for his upcoming UFC 162 match up against Chris Weidman and one unfortunate training partner was on the wrong end of a Silva strike. According to the Brazilian Portuguese language website Portal do Vale Tudo, Silva booted one of his training partners in the head during sparring and the result was a knockout.
To give you an idea of how devastating and effortless Silva’s knockouts come, he was wearing shin guards and the sparring partner had on head gear.
Reports state that Silva immediately dropped to his knees and help his unconscious teammate and he was upset with the result of his strike which ultimately led to him calling it quits on the workout and leaving the gym.
“He hates it when these accidents happen with training partners,” coach Ramon Lemos said, via Portal do Vale Tudo. “So he left upset and even spoke with Minotauro Nogueira, who came here today to watch his training.”
While Silva is upset that he knocked out a training partner, it will all be worth it next month if those techniques lead to another successful title defense and knockout win over the undefeated challenger.
