Georgia RB Todd Gurley Has Packed on the Weight

There is little debate that Georgia Bulldogs running back Todd Gurley is one of the best running backs in the nation, and he has committed himself to improving as a physical specimen. According to reports, Gurley has put on nearly 40 pounds in an effort to bulk up.

From Dane Brugler of NFLDraftscout.com and CBSSports.com:

Georgia is set to rely heavily on their running game this season, despite the return of senior quarterback Aaron Murray, so the added weight is a positive.

Gurley’s extra weight will allow him to shine as an every down back.

In the past, Gurley has been called “Gurshel Walker” because of his outstanding athleticism and speed, but the added bulk allows him to be an all-around back that can shine in the college game and eventually translate his game to the pros.

For NFL scouts and Georgia fans, this is great news.

if he was natural before, hes not now.

im not saying hes cheating, since nearly everyone who has to use is using anyway, itd be negligent not to.

just wanting to poke the ignorance

  • Scott Pharr

Correction…The term “Gershall” was a play on words combining the last names of the 2 stud freshmen RB’s last year, Gurley and Keith Marshall. It was observed that as a tandem they brought back memories of Herschel. Just an FYI.

40 lbs? Yeah, that should make him better….not. 40 lbs, lol.

    • P R

I’ve seen him on campus, he is ripped beyond ripped.
His spring 40 time was faster than his time the previous year.

      Nice try, though.

      • John C. Williams

We’ll see when the Gamecocks play you at home this year. Ripped beyond ripped, eh? lol

        • P R

…and at the end of the year, your players will be watching the SEC Championship game on tv. Again. Spurrier puts so much effort into preparing for UGA, he falls flat on his face in the other games that count. Guess that’s why your school has so many SEC Championships, huh? Oh, wait…

          • John C. Williams

Better late than never. You’ll have your hands full with Clemson, lol. You may want to find a defense. Thats what wins championships. BTW, we’ve whipped y’all THREE years in a row. Last year could’ve easily been 52-0. You didn’t play anyone except USC and Florida last year. Oh and maybe Bama, lol. See you in September.

          • P R

A Gamecock fan lecturing someone on what it takes to win championships in football. Now THAT is amusing.

          • Michael Ramer

Can I lecture on National Champions? Roll Tide … lol But I do like UGA (when not playing Alabama).. Roll Tide all day every day

          • Brent Hart

The only reason UGA makes it to the SEC Championship is because they have had the weakest schedule the past three years. Every time they make it to the championship game, they lose when they play someone from the west that USC and Florida played during the season. You guys never play LSU or BAMA anymore. Seems like the coaches are scared, and John is right, seems to me that the USC team has beaten you guys the last 3 years, and if USC beat you the past 3 years, think what LSU or BAMA would have done to you in those last 3 years if UGA actually played someone.

  • SALTWATERJAG

He’s a Full Back now LOL… GO GATORS..

    • P R

Good luck with that QB situation, Gator.

  • Brian Murray

Funny how other articles are talking about his 230ish weight as a weight loss. I don’t think he was just 195 last season, regardless of what he was listed at.

  • Some Body

195 last year and less than a year later up 40lbs? That should send red flags to everyone.
