At UFC on Fuel TV 10, mixed martial arts legend Antonio Minotauro Rodrigo Nogueira took on fellow TUF: Brazil 2 coach Fabricio Werdum in the main event. Nogueira was looking to continue his climb back up the top ten for a chance at another title shot before the end of his career, but Werdum was able to pull off the submission victory and put himself in line for the next title shot at heavyweight.
The fight ending submission was brutal and it looked like Nogueira may have once again snapped his arm, but the x-rays returned negative.
While Nogueira did not break his arm, there was ligament damage that will keep him on the shelf. According to manager Ed Soares, that damage will keep him out of action for at least three months.
“The doctors are saying he will be back training in three months,” Soares said. “He’s still a top 10 heavyweight in the world.”
Many believed that Nogueira should prepare to call it a career after another devastating loss, but with his heart we shouldn’t anticipate Nogueira calling it quits anytime soon.
In three months, when he is able to return to the octagon, you can expect Minotauro to look for another fight.
