With just one day before we get underway at the All England Club, we can see the match ups of the First Round, as well as who has been placed in certain sections of the draw. As far as the top seeds go we will see Djokovic, Murray, Federer, Ferrer, Nadal hold the top five seeds respectively.  On the women’s side of the draw, Serena, Azarenka, Sharapova, Radwanska, and Errani will be the top 5 for the women’s tournament. It was mentioned last week that due to Ferrer’s French Open Final appearance, he climbed the rankings above Rafael Nadal, and took the 4 seed in the ATP Rankings. It’s a weird draw for sure, seeing Nadal down to 5 when he’s had such a great year. He should be right around the 3 seed for this tournament, based on how he’s played thus far in 2013.

What’s even more of a disappointment is that we could potentially see a Nadal/Federer match up in the quarterfinals! We’re used to seeing he power 4 in the semis, but to see such a star-studded match in the quarterfinals is disheartening to say the least. Djokovic has got an better bracket position, with his biggest competition of his draw coming presumably in the semis, if he is to face 4-seeded David Ferrer. Andy Murray also has a light draw, he might be up against some lower-20 seeded players, but you can’t count anybody out  because of the number before their name.

The women’s side may be a little bit more predictable, just because the top players have played so consistently throughout the year. It’s hard to root against someone like Serena Williams who, like Djoker, will have her biggest competition of her side of the draw in the Semis, against Radwanska.

In my opinion, before Wimbledon 2013 begins, I think that this might be the last great year of Grass play Federer has left. He is aging, and it has become apparent. Just last week, Federer won his first title in 10 months. They don’t call him the greatest on grass for no reason though. So just looking at the draw, while Federer is going to have some stiff competition, playing potentially both Nadal and Murray before reaching the Finals, I think he can do it.

On the women’s side, I expect Serena to come out on top.

She’s been outplaying everyone she faces, she’s going down as one of the greatest of all time. I think she takes her momentum from Roland Garros and brings it to London and gets the win.
