Celebratory Gunfire Hits Teen After Miami Heat Win NBA title

I’ve never understood the appeal of flipping cars, starting fires, looting stores or just being a menace to society after your respective team wins a Championship. I also don’t understand the appeal of firing off celebratory gunshots. Laws of gravity suggest those bullets do eventually come to a rest and unfortunately, thanks to somebody’s incompetence that happened to be near the skull of a Florida teenager.

According to the Associated Press, fifteen-year-old Brandon Reid was watching his favorite team celebrate their 2013 NBA Title when a bullet came flying through the glass sliding door, grazing his skull:

A teen watching NBA Finals postgame coverage in South Florida was hit by what police believe was celebratory gunfire.

Fifteen-year-old Brandon Reid says he was watching Miami Heat basketball players celebrate their world championship Thursday when a bullet came through his mother’s sliding glass door and grazed his skull under the ear.

Reid told reporters Saturday that it felt like a rock hit him.

Thankfully, Reid who was visiting his Mother in Florida is expected to be just fine but a inch or two difference and we might be reporting a far more devastating story.
